# now

Now

A snapshot of what has my attention right now. It changes as my focus does.

research
My PhD at UAB centers on Neurofibromatosis Type 1 (NF1) and its associated cancers, turning single-cell and multi-omics data into results that hold up in the clinic.
building
A small ecosystem of R and Python tools my apps and pipelines share: biobouncer for validating biological identifiers, bioclients and biohttp underneath it, plotomics for GPU-accelerated visualization, and genescout for evidence-based gene prioritization. peacock and my R Shiny template keep new projects reproducible from the first commit.
working on
Back to my PhD research and the open-source tools above, after a summer as a software engineer on Posit's Shiny team (May to mid-August 2026).
teaching
R, Git, Bash and Python workshops at UAB, as a certified Carpentries instructor.
writing
Trying to write more, and more personally. The blog is the long-form home; I am also starting to post on Bluesky.

This is a /now page. It is meant to change often, not to be complete.
