what i do

My PhD at UAB centers on Neurofibromatosis Type 1 (NF1) and its associated cancers, turning single-cell and multi-omics data into results that hold up in the clinic. The research lives on the NF1 page; the tools it produced, and the ones that came before it, live under work.

Alongside the research I build a small ecosystem of R and Python tools my apps and pipelines share: validation, API clients, visualization, and templates that keep new projects reproducible from the first commit. Most recently I spent a summer as a software engineer on Posit's Shiny team; before that, human genetics at Genentech. The full timeline is on the experience page.

I also teach: R, Git, Bash and Python workshops at UAB, as a certified Carpentries instructor. And I write, on the blog, about the tools I build and the field they serve.
