Ensembl publishes no formal limit for the REST service, but an unpaced burst of the 100 or so requests one case's coding lane needs reliably trips a 429 partway through. One request per second is conservative enough to avoid that while still finishing a typical chunk count in a few minutes; vep_variants_all() applies it by default.

Usage

vep_default_throttle()

Value

A throttle spec, see biohttp::req_defaults()'s throttle argument.
